Veteran Owned
The Small Business Administration provides specific information for veterans who own or aspire to own small businesses. . Patriot Express is a new pilot loan initiative (June 2007) for veterans and members of the military community who want to establish or expand small businesses. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers entrepreneurial guidance to existing or prospective small business owners who are veterans. Getting Veterans Back to Business Resource Guide was developed by the SBA for small business owners returning from an active tour. It provides tools to help reestablish a business. The Veterans Business Outreach Center The mission of the VBOC is to help create, retain and develop businesses by coupling service-disabled veterans with local SBA sponsored technical and managerial assistance. Vet Fran is a voluntary effort of International Franchise Association member companies that is designed to encourage franchise ownership by offering financial assistance to honorably discharged veterans. Vet Biz is the Center for Veterans Enterprise Web portal. The mission of the CVE is to improve the business climate for veterans, to minmize access barriers and to inform the public about the benefits of working with veteran-owned small businesses. The Veterans Corporation is an organization focused on serving the needs of veteran business owners. Check out the Toolbox The Veterans Administration's Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization site assists veterans with identifying opportunities related to their veteran status. The SBA Office of Advocacy has a research project on veterans and business ownership-comlted in November 2004. NaVOBA this is the National Veteran-Owned Business Association site. Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs has information and resources for veterans and their families. US Census data on Veteran Business Owners this includes 2002 survey information on the characteristics of veteran owned businesses and veteran business owners.
