Access to Capital

Finding money for your small business can be a challenge. The following organizations provide assistance to small businesses seeking capital. Often a business plan and cashflow projections will be required to approach capital sources. In addition to these resources, your KSBDC consultant will be able to speak with you about sources of capital.

The SBA has an online publication entitled "The ABC's of Borrowing." Here it is in Spanish.

U.S. Small Business Administration website includes a wealth of information about loans, grants, and financing options.

Kansas Department of Commerce has many resources for businesses in Kansas needing loans, grants, export assistance, and workforce development.

Kansas Association of Certified Development Companies - CDC's administer the SBA's 504 loan program and are knowledgeable about other financing sources.

KC Source Link has published a report entitled Funding Sources in Greater Kansas City Metro Area.

Micro loans--Go Connection - Administers the SBA's microloan program in many counties in Northeast Kansas. For more information on other microloan programs, click here.

Kansas Rural Development - Administers the USDA's business development program for rural communities.

The Business Owner's Toolkit also includes information about getting the capital you need for your pre-venture or existing business. Different types of financing are also thoroughly explained.

Entrepreneur.com has informational resources about everything from starting a business to expanding an existing business. A financial section is also available.

Businessfinance.com provides connections to possible sources of capital for start-up businesses along with financial articles and advice for aspiring small business owners.
